Mint Energy Hires Industry Veteran to Lead Expansion in PJM

Mint Energy announces the hiring of Dan Schilens as Vice President, Sales & Marketing, to lead the company’s sales and marketing efforts and their expansion into PJM.

Most recently, Dan was President of DPL Energy Resources (“DPLER”), a competitive retail energy supplier that served commercial and residential customers in the PJM service territory. Dan was part of the management team which sold DPLER to IGS Energy completing the sale on January 1, 2016. Prior to DPLER, Dan held a number of other leadership positions across the competitive energy and telecommunications industries during his 16 plus year career, including founding his own brokerage and consulting business, positions at First Choice Power, PAETEC, Constellation NewEnergy, and XO Communications.

“I am excited to welcome Dan Schilens to our leadership team”, said David Reinfeld, CEO Mint Energy. “Dan adds proven experience in building and growing competitive retail suppliers as we look to expand our business.”

With the addition of Dan to the organization, Peter Duprey, who joined the company last year, will transition to the new role of Vice President of Supply and Portfolio Management. In this positon, Peter will focus his industry knowledge and significant expertise in commodity markets, risk management and pricing/structuring to optimize Mint’s wholesale and retail supply procurement. He will also spearhead Mint’s efforts to acquire and serve larger customers and aggregations, particularly those that require customized, multi-faceted electric supply arrangements. This initiative is already well underway at Mint, which has resulted in a significant expansion of commodity services delivered to commercial customers.

“Given our extremely talented, experienced and creative team of industry veterans and highly motivated newcomers, Mint’s strategic move towards providing value, risk control and exceptional service to large, sophisticated energy users fits our mission of providing customers with optimized high-value energy solutions. Such customers can expect great things from Mint and we welcome them reaching out to us,” added CEO Reinfeld.

“Mint Energy’s desire to bring a fresh approach to energy created a great opportunity to leverage my existing skillset and relationships to help grow the business across Ohio, Maryland, Illinois and New Jersey,” said Dan Schilens. “I look forward to working with David, Peter and the rest of Mint’s management team to rapidly expand the business both in New England and PJM.”
