Market Overview

Connecticut’s electricity market opened up due to the Electricity Restructuring Act passed in 2003. The act created electric choice for all consumers.

Connecticut is part of ISO New England, which is a regional transmission organization (RTO) – serving Rhode Island, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island. ISO New England is the governing body that ensures the day-to-day reliability of New England’s bulk power generation and transmission system by overseeing and ensuring the fair administration of the region’s wholesale electricity markets, and by managing comprehensive, regional planning processes.

Through restructuring customers have the option to switch over to a competitive supplier such as Mint Energy. Mint Energy representatives are available to explain the available pricing options as well as guide you through the competitive supply process.
